Lines will move faster without the customer needing to swipe or enter a PIN number.

Contactless transactions are continueing to go with banks handing out Contactless cards (known as Tap and Go)

A RFID chip and antenna is installed in all contactless capable cards, and these chips can be read by NFC capable terminals.

How secure are Contactless payments?

All electronic payments technology is governed by strict security protocols. Parameters have been built in to NFC capable terminals to ensure that Contactless payments are secure. Contactless payments also ensure the card never leaves your customer’s hand, providing peace of mind for customers conscious of card skimming

Are there any limits for Contactless transactions?

There is a limit of $80 using a Contactless card without inserting a PIN. If a Contactless card is presented for a transaction over $80 your customer can still use their card by simply tapping it on the terminal, but they will be prompted to enter their PIN. Occasionally a PIN is requested during a Contactless payment, regardless of the transaction amount, as an added layer of security.
